THE victim of a vicious street attack is being moved to a specialist brain injury unit.
The 23-year-old, named only as Kyle, was beaten with pieces of wood in Worthing early on Sunday morning.
His skull was fractured in several places.
He has been treated at Worthing Hospital but is being moved to Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre for treatment.
Kyle and two friends were set upon by a group of men in Railway Approach, near Worthing railway station, at 4.15am.
He was kicked, punched and hit with pieces of wooden fencing.
The attack is believed to have followed a row between the two groups at a Worthing nightclub earlier in the evening.
Appealing for witnesses to come forward, Kyle’s mother said: “He has a fractured and displaced skull, fractured eye sockets and he is facing major surgery.
“He can't even open his eyes or eat at the moment.
“It is shocking and heart-wrenching to see my son in this way.
“I don’t understand why anyone would do anything like that.
“He was on a night out and ended up in A and E.”
Two people have been arrested and released on bail over the attack.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
