Since the Green Party’s recent victory in the Goldsmid by-election, there have been a number of letters on this page from both Labour and Conservative representatives which are no more than a sad expression of sour grapes on their part. The idle threat from prospective Labour candidate Raymond Barnes (Letters, August 15) is no exception.
The Greens show confidence that they are not only continuing to build on their success due to the freshness of their approach, while the breeding of the excessive greed culture by Labour currently has the country on its knees. The Green Party will no doubt attract more voters, both locally and nationally, by remaining consistent and refusing to compromise its policies and beliefs and by not acting as a crutch to other parties in need.
Mr Barnes accuses the Green party of “showing their true colours – blue”, while its actual choice to remain independent and loyal to its cause illustrates that it is in no part blue, or red for that matter but 100% Green.
Perhaps now the Labour and Conservatives can stop whingeing and let the local electorate speak for itself at the ballot box.
