Having read your article about Brighton and Hove city Council finally and at long last taking a serious attitude to double parking (Argus, August 15) I was amazed to see that Councillor Gill Mitchell states the policy is “a misguided decision”.
Councillor Mitchell obviously has little idea of the life-threatening consequences of double parking on impeding fire engines moving around the city on emergency calls and returning to the station also. I am sure Councillor Mitchell and the antisocial double parkers would probably hold a completely different view if it was their house we could not get to in an emergency.
Perhaps Councillor Mitchell should spend a fifteen-hour night shift at Preston Circus Fire Station and see for herself the problems double parking can cause.
