Jamie Cook's third goal of the season gave Crawley an interval lead at Cambridge United in the Blue Square premier tonight.
Cook timed his run to perfection when Ben Smith slid the ball through the centre of the home defence, beating the offside trap and rounding keeper Danny Potter to score for the third successive game in the 24th minute.
It was Reds' only shot on target in the first half but they defended solidly to restrict the home side to a handful of openings, the best of which saw Robbie Willmott strike the corner of bar and post with a 30 yard free-kick in the 16th minute.
