Long ago, when I was a teenager, I had an abortion. No one knows about it. Will it still be on my medical record? And how could I get it removed?
The odds are the words “termination of pregnancy” do still appear on the computerized record at your GP’s surgery. I’m afraid it would be illegal to try to remove them. However, if people have moved around the country during their lives, changing from GP to GP, it often happens that the records of their early years simply get lost. If this is important to you, you could ask your doctor’s Practice Manager to tell you how far back your records go.
