A car torched in an arson attack exploded in the street in Portslade.
The Ford Focus car blew up with such force its windscreen was found 30 feet away and glass and debris covered the road.
Two other cars and a shopfront were damaged in the fire near the junction of Church Road and North Street at about 11.30pm.
No-one was injured. The front of the former Great Restorations fireplace shop was damaged by the blaze.
Police and fire investigators were treating the fire as an arson this morning.
