I’d like to comment on the article by Andy Chiles about parking problems.
The disabled lady opposite me parks outside her house in a disabled bay. Last week she had her car window broken and her disabled badge stolen during the night. She duly informed the police and council. A few days later there was a yellow “illegally parked” sticker on her car at 7.30am. At 9.30am, a tow truck duly arrived but since she had susequently put her replacement badge back in the car, they withdrew.
What is she supposed to do?
If she leaves it overnight it will undoubtably be stolen again. If she takes it out some official will turn up early in the morning and another sticker goes on the car.
There is obviously no communication between management and staff with a view to dealing with this kind of incident with a degree of sympathy and common sense.
Why have they got people on the streets so early in the morning? This seems to be a desperate measure to squeeze a pathetic amount of money out of the pockets of minor transgressors.
Whose side are you on, council?
