I am aware the council needs to make money and that charging for parking is a good source of income.
Regarding Preston Park Avenue, the majority of complaints are concerning the large residential and commercial vans that park on a semi permanent basis, and the removal of these untidy vehicles.
Although the vans are often unsightly, I have no problems with the general behaviour of the owners recently except for the ‘visitors’ during the Pride event.
It seems there has been very little concern for the users of Preston Park – the children in the playground and learning to ride bikes, the cricketers and other users of the track, the bowlers.
The cost of parking meters for parents with children is a lot, and could possibly discourage some from using these excellent and needed facilities.
Surely restriction of the size of vehicles being allowed to park in the area, and limited parking time eg four hours and no return within two hours during the day, would solve the problem.
