READING the letter from C P Smith concerning Dubarry’s (The Argus, August 10), I felt I had to add my little bit.
I also worked in the printing room. I left just after Christmas 1956.
Yes, John Taylor was the foreman. I remember there was also Fred, Jim, Joyce and Audrey. They were happy days, even though I had to run up George Street and then on to Dubarry’s every morning to clock on. I lived in Woodingdean so time was tight.
My late mum (Betty) also worked at Dubarry’s in the powder room between 1945 and 1947. It was a very friendly place to work and reading the various letters in The Argus brought back happy memories.
My boyfriend at the time, who was serving in the Army, used to meet me from work. He used to wait on the bridge and I could see him through the window of the printing room. We have been married for 53 years.
