An NHS Trust in East Sussex has turned to Facebook to help gain feedback from new mothers and their partners about ways to improve maternity care services.
NHS Brighton and Hove is believed to be the first NHS Trust in England to use the social networking site to help shape its maternity services.
Health officials hope to hear from new parents in the seaside city about their experiences before, during and after the birth of their babies.
Links to questionnaires are included on the page as well as a discussion section to enable people to exchange experiences on birth, breastfeeding and living healthily before and during pregnancy.
Feedback received from mothers and fathers will supplement face-to-face meetings staff hold with women to improve maternity care services, the Trust said.
Nazma Jabbar, maternity commissioner for NHS Brighton and Hove, said: "We're using Facebook to reach people who prefer this way of communicating and to make sure they're involved in our vision for change.
"Each person has their own story and it's vital that we listen.
"We will keep this online community informed throughout the project to show that their contribution is heard and used to influence positive change for maternity services."
