IN HIS letter Nicholas Dunn-Coleman wrote: “If all the badly designed shop fronts in Brighton and Hove were replaced with good designs it is difficult to say what would happen” (The Argus, August 6).
Whole streets, such as London Road, could be transformed. This is what happened in St James’s Street some years ago when grants were available.
The Brighton Society hopes the developer of the Elder Place area behind London Road could provide funding (through Section 106 Agreements) for well designed new shopfronts in London Road, in many cases revealing the beautiful villas still just visible above the ugly and over large fascia boards which spoil the street today.
