A man in his 30s was left seriously injured when he was attacked with a weapon on a footpath in Worthing.
Police cordoned off sections of Barrington Road this morning as they made house-to-house inquiries and scenes of crime officers gathered evidence.
The man is believed to have been walking with his girlfriend in a twitten between two sections of the road when they were attacked at about 12.30am today.
Detectives have not yet been able to interview the victim but it is understood three men may have been involved in the assault.
They believe a weapon was used and said his injuries may be consistent with a stabbing.
