This week I had a lovely date at Casa Don Carlos. It is such a great restaurant for a cosy romantic meal – set in the narrow lanes it feels very quaint and the murmur where it’s always busy means that you’re always sat close to your partner speaking at a level which only you two can hear. Tapas is great for sharing - what’s more – the food at Casa Don Carlos is always lovely as well as being reasonably priced (some would argue that you should treat your date to an expensive restaurant – I would argue that I would rather go somewhere where I can pick whatever I want on the menu with as much wine as I would like without feeling guilty – I’m a great catch!). So for anyone who’s not visited Casa Don Carlos – I would highly recommend for a romantic meal, but make sure you book first to avoid disappointment! My only complaint would be that the food comes out, is eaten and taken away all too quickly – but hey good dates can’t last forever!
Moving on to this weekend - there’s something about the Marina that I find weird. I think it is that somehow I find the houses look fake or something and so seem out of place in kooky Brighton. And so apart from cycling past it on the way to Rottingdean and the fireworks that mark the end of the Fringe Festival I stay well clear. But this weekend I am going to give it another chance. I have been hearing people talking about a market that is on every weekend. I can only find details of it on VisitBrighton and they call it the Mermaid Market and describe how I can expect to find everything from art, gifts, and clothing to homemade food, meat and freshly caught fish. Sounds like something for everyone. Is it worth a peek? I will have a look and let you know!
