The Brighton Frocks theatrical catwalk show this weekend went without a hitch and if you were there in the audience on Friday night, I sincerely hope that you had a good time; I came away buzzing from the whole experience. It's actually hard to believe that something that took so long to put together is finally over.

On reflection, one of the highlights for me and (from listening in to various conversations as I was leaving the Hilton) I'm guessing most people, was of course watching the boys, who this year were dressed by Brighton-born Tom Lipop.

You have to, have to, introduce your man and male friends to this range -- my jaw actually hit the floor when the guys all walked out of the changing room and I still haven't quite recovered yet. A collection crossed between sexy-cool and laid-back casual, Tom got it absolutely right.

Now living in and working from London, Tom used his showcase at Brighton Frocks to launch his debut Menswear collection, entitled 'Battle of the Sardines' which took it's inspiration from his now chaotic London lifestyle.

After showing at Graduate Fashion Week in Battersea, Tom was head hunted for Project Catwalk Series 3 on Sky One. Following this he started a senior design position at House of Holland where he stayed for one season before going freelance -- this is when he created his label LipopLondon.

I managed to pin Tom down for five minutes following the craziness leading upto and after the show, so I took the opportunity to ask him the questions I like to ask everybody...

Tom, tell us about your design background...

I studied art at school then moved onto graphic design and photography at college where I won the 6th form design prize. Following this, I started my BA Hons in fashion and textiles at Bournemouth University and within my first year won the Prestigious National Glovers Guild Association for design competition.

When did you start designing clothes and what inspired you to do so?

Designing clothes has always been a great love of mine, from as early as I can remember I was always a thriving artist exploring the areas of design. Throughout university my ambition to become a designer and create a label became more apparent everyday. Exhibitions and catwalks spurred my inspiration along with travelling and working within the industry.
