Commuters have had to call in the police after their cars were attacked when they went to work.
Some workers on the Hollingbury industrial estate in Brighton park in residential streets nearby as there is little available space for vehicles in the area.
But now those parking in Old Boat Walk are finding them pelted with eggs when they return to them after their shifts.
One resident, who would not be named, said: ”People are not allowed to park here.
“Watch out, the other week a tow truck came round and clamped loads of cars.”
Some residents have also spoken to drivers when they park their cars in the morning.
They claim that the area is mainly for disabled residents, although there are no disabled parking signs or bays in the road.
Mel Coley, 38, a student who had her car pelted, said: “I was shocked to find an egg smashed on my windscreen.
“I come from Eastbourne and always struggle to find somewhere to park and have only parked in the street twice.”
She said she had contacted the police about the incident.
Paula O’Shea, the managing director of Brighton Journalist Works, which is based at the offices of The Argus, also found egg on her vehicle.
She said: “This is a public road, people park on the street outside my house and I wouldn’t dream of damaging their cars.
“I was very upset to be attacked in this way for doing nothing wrong.”
A Brighton and Hove City Council spokeswoman said: “There are no parking restrictions whatsoever in Old Boat Walk.”
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said there had been problems with angry residents in the past and that any criminal damage to vehicles would be investigated.
Anyone with information about these incidents should call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
