Tourism bosses have teamed up with a leading listings magazine to boost visitor numbers to Brighton and Hove.

Some 200,000 copies of the 32-page pocketsized Essential Guide to Brighton have been distributed inside the latest edition of Time Out London in the hope of wooing residents of the capital to the South Coast.

It gives more than 200 ideas of places to go and things to do, from iconic city attractions like the Royal Pavilion to hidden gems off the usual tourist track.

The guide is timed to hit the period when people start thinking of getting away and just ahead of the city’s busy festival period in May.

David Smith, Brighton and Hove City Council’s cabinet member for tourism, said: “We’re doing all we can to help local businesses during this difficult time. The guide really supports our city’s independent spirit, championing the local retailers, restaurateurs, clubs, performance venues and accommodation providers that welcome visitors throughout the year.”

The guides will be sent out by VisitBrighton to people enquiring about the city and will be available in venues across Brighton and Hove. A downloadable version of the guide is available at www.visitbrighton.com.
