A teenage girl has been arrested after a man was hit on the head with a bottle.
The 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm, but was later charged with being drunk and disorderly.
The incident happened in Bath Place, off South Street in Worthing just before 11pm on Sunday. Police were alerted to the scene by a number of calls from members of the public.
A 49-year-old man was treated at the scene for his injuries.
The area where the incident took place was sealed off overnight so that a scenes of crime officer could attend yesterday morning.
The girl is due to appear at Worthing Magistrates Court on Thursday.
