With its armchairs, carpets and net curtains, it looks like any normal living room.
But for the cats that can be found dozing here it is their exclusive, luxury home.
Moggy Mansions is a refuge for elderly abandoned cats.
It has been created in a garden shed at a house in Ladydell Road, Worthing.
It is funded by Worthing and District Animal Rescue Service and run by cat-lovers Pam Formoy and her husband Patrick.
The 71-year-old said that cats were very difficult to re-home.
She said: “Cats have so much to give but they are so often neglected.
“The ones we have here are older and many of them are here because their owners have died and they are left homeless.
“We take them in because they deserve somewhere to go to live out the rest of their lives.
“It is harder to re-home them because some of them are incontinent and most people want a cute kitten if they are looking for a cat.”
Moggy Mansions currently has three residents but there is space for five.
Not content with caring for the forlorn felines, Pam and Patrick also share their home with five cats of her own, four dogs, five chickens and five ducks.
As well as being decked out with comfy chairs, the room is adorned with cat pictures, cat books and an oil-fired heater.
A fake fireplace painted on the wall proved so realistic that one cat, 21-year-old Sam, cuddled up to it shortly after it was finished.
Pam said the cats, like any creature, deserved a chance of a happy end to their lives.
She said: “Most of them spend their lives with people, it just seems fair that they should have a decent life at the end and get love and affection and are well cared for.”
To let people see Moggy Mansions first-hand, Pam has organised an open day.
It is being held on May 23 and will include a plant sale and a raffle from 10am to 2pm.
Visitors are asked to bring some cat food as a donation to help feed the cats.
