Four people were treated in hospital after a fire broke out in a mid terrace property.
The blaze is believed to have started accidentally in the lounge of the house in Chestnut Way, Newhaven, at 1.29am today.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service used breathing apparatus and a hose to put out the fire out and the Red Cross victim support unit was called in to help the casualties.
Two adults and two children were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, by ambulance where they were treated for smoke inhalation. A neighbour was also given oxygen by the fire service at the scene.
