The advent of the internet and dedicated digital news channels, has created an age of 24-hour rolling news.
But who decides what constitutes news? How is it interpreted, edited and mediated before it flashes on to our screens?
The feted German theatre collective Rimini Protokoll brings Breaking News to the British stage for the first time, providing a glimpse into just what makes TV news tick.
The stage beams live, genuine television news from across the world. Broadcasts from Iceland, Russia, and North America sit alongside our own, as Rimini’s cast of translators, ex-journalists and broadcasters provide live interpretation of the events unfolding before them. In the process, they become links to the global news chain.
By blending our understanding of “real” and “stage-managed”, medium and message, the group aims to create a slice of reality theatre.
Starts 7.30pm. Tickets £18.50, £12.50, £10, £7.50, £5.
