Whether it’s 1960s art icon Sir Peter Blake riding into town on a specially- designed double-decker bus or the chance to view previously unseen images of a naked, 20-year-old Madonna, the Visual Arts section of the Fringe aims to tempt everyone off their sofas and into the city’s galleries.
In addition to Sir Peter Blake’s visit, which will include an exhibition on his bus and sale of a new book, and Impure Gallery’s hosting of the Madonna Nudes by New York photographer Martin Schreiber, The Boxbird Gallery launches Cinemascope. A new venture, it invites artists including the Modern Toss team, Graham Carter and Anna Kyriacou to submit two limited-edition prints based on a film of their choice.
