Baker’s objections (delaying tactics) over the waste incinerator at Newhaven (The Argus, April 23).
When the household waste stops being collected in the next two years because there is nowhere to put it and with Beddingham full, what will Mr Baker’s solution be then?
Newhaven is an industrial site and will take care of the waste from Eastbourne to Brighton and as far north as Uckfield.
It is near the Beddingham site, which is the route used by waste services for the councils.
Incinerators work elsewhere, including Havant and abroad.
According to the Green Party, and Mr Baker, we should recycle more but alas, at the present, the pipes are blocked. Industry has stopped manufacturing goods from recycled materials because of the recession.
Not forgetting, when business picks up again, New-haven is also suitable as a recycling base as it is a deep-water port, good for shipping recycling goods to factories in India and China.
Instead of delays Mr Baker, let’s hear your solution to household waste?
