Exercise has never been top of priorities and sadly, a few years ago, it started to show.
Up until the age of 24 I could eat and drink what I liked and still remained a size ten.
However, an office job, terrible eating habits and my metabolism slowing to a snail's pace soon put paid to that.
I have tried slimming clubs where I lost a stone only to put two back on and I have tried the gym but I find it so achingly boring I would pay the monthly fee and not go.
So it was with much trepidation that I decided to take part in the Fitbitch Boot Camp because I thought it would give me the motivation I need to get me exercising.
On Sunday I met with personal trainer Rachael Woolston, who is running the boot camps, to get weighed and measured – something I was not looking forward to.
The results were as I expected but still shocking all the same. I cannot believe I have allowed myself to get so out of shape.
Alcohol is my biggest downfall and my eating pattern is very sporadic – I rarely eat breakfast and drink black coffee like it's going out of fashion most mornings.
But the results from the two (and-a-half) day diary I had kept were atrocious. I was only eating 1,700 calories a day but broken down it worked out at 35% from carbohydrates, 11% protein, 24% fat and 30% from alcohol. A normal healthy diet should be 50% carbohydrates, 30% fat: 20% protein.
To fit in with work I am attending the 6.10am class with two others. I am not a morning person so when my alarm went off at 5.30am on Monday I almost hit the snooze button until I realised there was somewhere I was meant to be.
My fellow Fitbitchers, Aleks and Anna both arrived at Hove Lawns before me (I was slightly late) and Rachael soon had us running, skipping, squatting and using all manner of muscles which have lain dormant for years.
I wouldn’t say I enjoyed it but it was nice to be out as the sun came up and I’m sure I will begin to appreciate the exercise a lot more once my fitness starts to improve.
