Saltdean Residents’ Association is in negotiation with The Boundary Commission regarding the unification of East and West Saltdean.
This follows a meeting of 150 residents, the majority in favour of unification.
Among issues discussed were the fact that Saltdean has to deal with both East Sussex and Brighton and Hove City councils over issues in Longridge Avenue as the boundary goes down the middle of the road.
Unification of Saltdean under one authority would help with this.
It might also help with investment in the area, give the town more of a say in issues of concern and cut costs.
There was discussion about which authority would best serve the residents of Saltdean and a referendum will seek to deal with this.
It is time this matter was sorted. It has been an issue since 1934 when the residents’ association came into being.
