Dozens of homeless people were evacuated from a shelter after a fire broke out.
Firefighters were called to the St Patrick's Church housing project in Cambridge Road, Hove, at 1.15am today.
A fire had broken out in the kitchen of the hostel, which houses around 30 people each night.
The blaze was believed to have started from a toaster.
It was extinguished before it could spread from the room. Everyone was safely evacuated.
