Firefighters were called to a kitchen blaze which started in a storage cupboard.
Crews from Eastbourne attended the fire at an address in Derwent Road, Eastbourne just before 7.30pm.
The house’s occupants raised the alarm after noticing smoke coming from a cupboard, which triggered the smoke alarm.
A woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and a man was uninjured.
