I am writing to share something positive regarding the NHS and our social services.
In March my aunt fell and broke her arm and one of her thumbs and gashed her face.
We immediately took her to A&E at Worthing Hospital and were attended to romptly.
She was treated with much care and attention.
Their examinations were thorough and professional, mixed with compassion and even humour.
Every time we attended the hospital the service and attention was consistent and I was very impressed with the staff and their dedication and attitude to the job in hand.
As I am a full-time carer for my aunt, who suffers from dementia, I was in need of some respite.
The adult services department of social services agreed that I needed a break, so everything was put in place for her to have two weeks in a recently purpose-built care home for people with dementia, Elmcroft Care Home in Shoreham.
After the first day, being a little disoriented by a new environment, she settled in and enjoyed her stay there.
She was pampered by an enthusiastic and caring staff and joined in all the activities that were available in the home.
I cannot express the relief I also enjoyed, knowing she was in good hands, and I could at last enjoy some quality time and relax.
That two weeks was heavenly.
