Two trike riders were taken to hospital today after they collided with a van.
The accident, which caused major traffic congestion, happened on the A27 Polegate Bypass eastbound carriageway at 1.40pm today.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “An orange three-wheeled trike motorcycle travelling east towards Ditton's roundabout was involved in a collision with a white van.
“The two riders on the trike were taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with serious injuries.
“Anybody who witnessed the collision or anything prior to it can contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999.”
He added the riders' injuries did not appear to be life threatening. The road was reopened at 4.10pm.
