Singer and reality TV star David Van Day has announced his engagement to the girlfriend he dumped on live television.
The Brighton-born star of I'm a Celebrity... told The Argus he popped the question to national newspaper beauty editor Sue Moxley on Saturday after making up for his outburst live on Channel Five's Matthew Wright Show last month.
The former Dollar frontman said: “I thought, you know what, I may have been a bit hasty. We made up, I got her a diamond ring and we're engaged.”
David, who ran a burger van and an ice cream van, proposed during dinner at an Essex restaurant on Saturday and hid the ring in a sugar bowl for his girlfriend to find.
The singer, who is writing his autobiography titled A Few Dollars More, was criticised for dumping Ms Moxley live on the popular TV talk show amid claims it was a poor taste PR stunt.
In a segment about people putting careers ahead of relationships he dumped the beauty writer.
He told viewers: “I've had enough. I can't do this any more and I mean this sincerely. I love you but I'm not prepared to put up with this any more.”
