I really liked Ian Slater’s idea (Letters, April 11) of having “none of the above” on ballot papers in elections.
Perhaps if “none of the above” won, no politicians could take a seat.
Most people I know either don’t vote or vote against the least bad candidate rather than for something positive.
Maybe if MPs were paid the same as the people they represent – the mean average wage is about £22,000 a year – they would understand what we need and we would be able to trust that they weren’t just in it for the money.
