As a responsible dog owner I use plastic bags or biodegradable nappy sacks and always pick up my three dogs’ poo and put it either in a dog poo bin or take it home and dispose of it appropriately.
Why do some dog owners – mostly nice, respectable people from those I meet – take the effort to buy nappy sacks, bend down, pick up the poo and then hang it from trees, throw it in hedges or just launch it wherever they can? It is disgusting.
Not only is it a health hazard, an eyesore and a filthy mess but it is sheer laziness. The excuse that there was no dog poo bin is utter rubbish. Please carry it to one or take it home.
I picked up a carrier bag of other peoples’ dog poo bags the other day rather than leave them stinking and rotting. It is the owner’s responsibility to collect their dog’s poo and dispose of it in a safe and clean manner. If I had my way, anyone caught not picking it up or leaving it in hedges would be fined and ordered to serve a day of community service by collecting dog mess left lying around in nappy sacks here there and everywhere.
