Record recycling rates have been reached at 11 household waste sites.
Last year, 62% of all waste was recycled at the sites in West Sussex, run on behalf of West Sussex County Council by Viridor Waste Management. The top month was September when 66% of all waste was recycled.
Councillor Derek Whittington, cabinet member for strategic planning, said: βIn 2008, our network of household waste recycling sites received and processed more than 108,282 tons of household waste. That's a enough waste to fill Wembley Stadium.β
