It was interesting to read the history of the Volk’s Railway Winter Saloon, which dis-appeared in 1948, as the Volk’s management have just finished the plans to make a modern version of the Winter car. Your readers may be interested in the drawings.
The train can run all year round and in all weathers, plus take bicycles and wheelchairs without folding them up. Credit must go to John Goddard, a volunteer who has produced a splendid design.
There will be an exhibition soon. Go to the official Brighton and Hove City Council Volk’s railway website for updates. The Railway opened early this year, on Thursday.
