Hungry punters lined the street to buy freshly made hot cross buns.
The baker at Ravens in Ditchling Road, Brighton, got up at 2am to make the 4,000 hot cross buns.
The shop is renowned for selling on Good Friday.
A queue started forming before the bakery opened at 7.30am and staff worked non-stop until the last bun was sold.
Jan Eaton, who spent the morning serving customers, said: “We could probably make double the amount and they would all go.
“We bake on the premises and the people who come here are willing to pay that bit extra for the quality which you don't get in the supermarket.
“We have had a long queue going down the road all morning and we have served hundreds of people. It's just constant and never seems to go down. We close when the buns run out.”
