A rock band has become an internet sensation after their music video spoofing the Terminator films attracted thousands of views on YouTube.

Brighton group Dry Rise enlisted the help of a television producer friend to make the four-minute mini epic.

But instead of a cyborg sent from the future to kill, as in the films, the band decided to adopt a more lighthearted storyline to accompany their version of the iconic theme music.

Band member Gazz Marlow said: “The song came about when I was mucking about playing the Terminator theme. I took it to band practice one day and we adapted it and formulated a rock version.

“We thought it would be funny if we played it live and then we decided to record it.”

After the tune received a positive response on the band’s MySpace page the group decided to make a music video.

Gazz said: “We had an idea that instead of having a robot we have a 1980s roadie go forward in time to form the band by kidnapping the different members.

“We filmed it back in August.

The editing took quite a long time and there were lots of technical issues and a few special effects we had to do.

“Lots of footage ended up on the cutting room floor.”

It is not the first time Dry Rise, who formed in 2000, have appeared in a music video.

The band were lucky enough to star in video on the music channel Scuzz in 2004 after they won a competition with Sky TV.

The band’s latest effort has attracted praise from internet viewers on the video sharing website YouTube.

One fan posted: “Great cover and great vid. You’re awesome, guys.”

Another wrote: “I’m watching it every day. This deserves 500,000 views and more in my opinion. I’m diggin the video editing.”
