From A Train

A DEER stepped out from the trees
As the train went trundling by
Incurious, quite at ease
A faraway look in its eye.

Unseen by all but a few
The image was lost in a trice
For most were absorbed in the view
Obtained from a favourite device.

But all that a laptop displayed
And all that their texting could yield
Was surely consigned to the shade
By a deer so briefly revealed.
