Eastbourne once had a reputation as a clean town with only the collections and road sweeping carried out by SITA. But Eastbourne is not that well catered for when it comes to getting rid of litter.
Years ago there were litter bins all over town. Now, though, there are hardly any.
In fact, just as you come into Eastbourne on the main road, there are traffic lights at Upperton Road, where The Avenue joins it.
On the corner the alcoholics sit and, until recently, there was a bin for their rubbish. Now the bin has been taken away, the grassed area is full of beer cans and other detritus. Bins have also been removed near The Saffrons’ football ground, opposite the town hall and in many other parts of town.
Can’t something be done about it?
