A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a painting valued at £2,000 from a train in a seaside town, British Transport Police (BTP) said.
The artwork has now been reunited with its owner after it was taken from a train he had accidentally left it on earlier this year.
The victim was returning home after having the painting framed in London on February 11.
Police issued CCTV images last week of a man wanted for questioning in relation to the theft of the painting, entitled Didling High Summer by West Sussex artist Peter Iden.
Detective Constable Rob Cager said within hours of the appeal, police were able to recover the painting following information from a member of the public.
British Transport Police said a 43-year-old man from Eastbourne was arrested and interviewed today by detectives and bailed until Monday, May 11.
DC Cager thanked police and members of the public for their efforts in tracing it.
