Zoe Ball has made a national appeal for the return of her husband’s hip flasks - after she gave them to a charity shop.

She admitted she had slung out the drinking memorabilia belonging to Fatboy Slim during a manic spring clean and because of “recent events.”

Her DJ husband, real name Norman Cook, has only just got of rehab in Bournemouth where he received treatment for alcoholism.

Speaking yesterday on Radio 2, Zoe, who was filling in for Ken Bruce, explained how she bagged up the trinkets and donated them to a local charity shop after cleaning out the couple’s million-pound seafront home in Hove.

But when Norman returned home from rehab last week she realised the collection was amongst his prize possessions and now she's appealing for anyone who may have bought one to return them to the shop.

The 38-year-old said live on air: "I have to admit I'm in a bit of trouble.

"I don't know if anyone else has had the spring cleaning bug of late but I went a little bit too mad.

"My husband came home last week and thought he had walked into the wrong house – he said it looked rather clinical.

"I had been sweeping cupboards and emptying out lots of things ready for charity shops."

She described her love of flea markets and told how Norman had asked her if she was visiting any junk shops could she pick him up some hip flasks for his collection which he'd kept for years.

She said: "I thought because of the irony, in light of recent events, he would no longer want this strange collection of hip flasks that were on top of the dresser in the kitchen – and unfortunately I had thrown them out and given them to charity.

"So I just wondered if anyone has any trinkety hip flasks they no longer need could them send them to me.

"I've been going round local charity shops trying to buy them all back."
