This dramatic picture of Brighton's West Pier covered in snow by Toby Smith has just been awarded silver in the 152nd International Print Exhibition Awards hosted by the Royal Photographic Society.
Mr Smith used an unusually long exposure time of four minutes to capture the subtle auras of the industrial structure by night.
Inspired by his picture, we have put together a gallery of striking images of the pier from our archive.

Do you have any great pictures of the West Pier? Email them to web editor Jo Wadsworth and we will add the best to our gallery.
