A 51-year-old man remains in a stable but critical condition after he suffered serious head injuries in an unprovoked attack.
The man was laying on the grass close to the dolphin fountain in Old Steine, Brighton, at about 2pm on Sunday last week, when he was approached by two men.
One of the men kicked him in the head.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital before being transferred to Hurstwood Park Neurological Hospital in Haywards Heath.
A 38-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been bailed for eight weeks pending further inquiries.
