A council is to press ahead with controversial dog control orders despite pet owners fears it will lead to wide-spread bans on where they can walk their pooches.
Adur District Council wants to introduce the orders by the end of the month and has been asking residents for their views.
Parts of Shoreham, Lancing and Southwick will be no-go zones for canines and their owners in a bid to tackle the problem of dog mess.
Dogs will also be banned from Cross Road and Croft Avenue rest gardens in Southwick and Manor House gardens in Lancing.
Some dog walkers have said they fear the zones will eventually lead to a widespread ban, although council bosses have pledged to clarify the proposals.
Owners could face fines of £50 and £80 or court prosecution with a fine of 1,000.
A spokeswoman for Adur District Council said: "The exclusion order will only apply to small sections of parks and open areas such as children's play areas, bowling greens, croquet lawns, tennis courts, skate parks, cycle enclosures or putting greens. "
