Barbara Jones emails: “I am looking for my aunt and uncle who emigrated to Australia in the late 1940s. They were Beatrice Newton (nee Jones) and Tom/William Newton of Brighton.
“We know their first port of call was Sydney and, although they stayed in touch until the late 1950s, all contact was then suddently lost.
“Aunt Beat was born in June, of 1920. Her father was William Henry George Jones and her mother Rosalind Emily Counstable Funnell. The family lived in the Lewes Road area of Brighton. “Her brothers and sisters included Will, Maud, Albert Edward, Christopher, George, Arthur and Lilian.
“Here is the only photograph we have of Aunt Beat, proudly wearing her ATS uniform.”
