Brighton 1-1 Northampton. Attendance 5,062. Brighton dropped two points as they came from behind to grab a point.
Northampton started better and the front pairing of Akinfenwa and Constantine were a nightmare for the defence.
The visitors scored first with a goal from Gilligan who rifled a shot through Kuipers’ hands (he should have done better).
The second half was dominated by Brighton and they pulled a goal back when a corner from Carole found the head of Elphick who powered it home.
Both teams found them selves down to 10 men. Akinfenwa and Virgo were involved in a scuffle and both were given their marching orders.
Brighton had a great chance to win the game when Davies was one on one with the keeper but he blasted wide and the game ended in a draw.
Brighton are still in 20th and with Crewe one point behind, it is a huge game on Saturday.
We must beat Crewe, otherwise we will find it hard.
We have 15 games left. I reckon we can get at least 21 points, hopefully that will be enough but we need to dig in and fight.
The most important thing is that we beat, Swindon, Orient, Crewe and Hereford. Obviously they will be thinking the same but I believe with Murray back we will stay up.
Kuipers 4. Awful kicking at fault for the goal, two good saves though.
Whing 4. Becoming a liability Elphick 6. Good goal and strong in defence.
El-Abd. 6 Strong game against difficult forwards.
McNulty 8 MOM. Showed class, good going forward and defensively Birchall 5. Quiet but did OK.
Fraser 4. A bit non existent Jarrett 5. Spells of good player and then other times not to be seen.
Cox 5. Should have scored a couple, crossing needs to be worked on.
Forster 7. Did well, should have scored Virgo 3. Did not win a lot and silly sending off.
Davies 6. Showed good touches, should have scored Carole 7. Great cross, showed good skills, play him from the start please.
White 4. Should have played Davies instead of Virgo.
