Millwall 0-1 Brighton Attendance 9,226. A solitary header from Virgo made sure managerless Brighton kept up with the teams above them.
A strange day, which saw Micky Adams leave by "mutual consent", ended on a high as Brighton earned three valuable points.
Adams was relieved of his duties on Friday night which did not come as a shock. You cannot go on with those kind of results and keep your job.
So Booker and White took charge for the game and it was a good one to watch. Millwall, as you would expect, were the better side in the first half but the outstanding Kuipers kept them at bay.
Birchall wasted a great chance to score but shot over the bar from five yards!
Brighton looked much better in the second half and scored when a great cross from Birchall found Virgo unmarked who nodded past the stationary keeper.
A brilliant result and we have done the double over Millwall. The only downside was that Leyton Orient and Swindon both won as well but we are still hot on their heels and with the games in hand we can catch them, starting on Tuesday night with a home game with out of form Northampton.
So we start the search for a new manager, all the usual names are floating around but the two front runners at the moment are Ince and Gannon.
I do not think Ince would want to come back down to League one, but he won't want to be unemployed either.
Gannon has proved successful with Stockport but because he has done so much good work there, why would he want to leave?
