Brighton squandered the chance to take a lead into the second leg of the JP Trophy southern section final after Luton held on to a deserved draw.
The visitors came with one aim - to stop us scoring and they succeeded!
The tall defenders kept out everything, Robinson came closest for Brighton when the ball landed at his feet but he didn't see it coming and the defender cleared. Virgo had a chance to score when he rose highest but headed over. Luton never looked like scoring, they defended very well but up front were very poor.
There was a lot of negativity from the 6000+ crowd, mostly towards Adams. Understandable, as we are on a awful run, but we are still in the cup and can make amends with a victory away at Luton on February 17. This game has now been confirmed as being the live game on Sky Sports so will be looking forward to that.
The crowd had a very different feel to it, you could tell there were a lot of people who have not been for a while especially the one person in C block who was jumping round like an idiot trying to get people to sing. I say idiot because it was funny for the first 10 minutes but after 90 it grated on you a bit, but he seemed to enjoy it.
The boo boys were out in force as usual. Seriously does this help the team - although performances by Fraser and Mcleod were pitiful and I abused them as they could not pass tackle or play football.
I feel down at the moment and for the first time ever I’m not enjoying going to football. We had planned to go to Luton but after Tuesday’s effort we are not bothering, the Hereford away game is now also in doubt.
This is all down to the performance of the team, we are not playing well and we are in danger of going down. I do not know when we will win our next game and that is worrying, we need to win the "six-pointer" on Saturday against Cheltenham, if we lose that we are doomed.
Sullivan (4) kicking was awful not much to do.
Virgo (6) strong in defence should have scored.
Elphick (6) strong again.
Hinshelwood (5) looked nervous made me feel nervous!
Whing (5) - ok should have got forward more.
Cox (6) crosses ok, needs to get in harder.
Fraser (2) poor, gave ball away, stupid tackles, worst player.
El-Abd (4) same as Fraser but played better > Mcleod (3) a joke, only good thing were crosses.
Robinson (5) should have scored, proved why he cannot get in the squad.
Forster (7) (mom) ran the game all night, had a few chances played better when Virgo was up-front with him.
Mayo (5) got stick but played ok.
Livermore (5) should have come on earlier.
Loft (5) as above.
