Another awful performance from Brighton against MK Dons has moved us into a proper relegation scrap. Albion scored 2 and Milton Keynes Dons 4.
An early goal from Johnson was about as good as it got with the Albion who were outclassed, outmuscled, outjumped and outplayed throughout the whole of this fixture.
Goals from Johnson and Fleetwood (Albion), and Llera, Johnson, Leven and Puncheon made for a entertaining game for neutrals but a frustrating one for the home fans. For the majority of the game the crowd were getting increasingly annoyed with Albion pumping the ball in the air, only to see the Dons' six-foot plus players winning everything.
They also had two impressive wingers who ripped Whing apart all game.
The game was totally one sided and also feisty, a 22-man brawl after Cox had tackled badly was ignored by the referee who took five steps back and watched as the teams pushed and shoved each other which resulted in five bookings being issued.
Also, in the second half, El Abd made a terrible challenge, another melee started and he was booked. At the end Thornton kicked a Dons player twice but the referee did not book him. He was very whistle-happy but again Albion’s discipline is awful.
I sat in North Stand for a change and it was my first league game there.
The South Stand sounded a lot louder from there but the North Stand was not my thing at all - too many posh people - but we were closer to the impressive away fans, they sang all game even when they were one down.
There were also fans with their tops off jumping around which is always a funny sight.
So, another home defeat and another barrage of boos which was fully deserved. Albion chairman Dick Knight made a mistake when getting rid of Dean Wilkins, we finished seventh and now we are 20th. A lot of people are losing faith and losing faith in Adams which is no surprise but it is his fault? Should the players take some responsibility? Are we relying too much on loannees? Do the loanees care? Will a new manager change things?
I think Adams has to take some of the responsibility but hopefully the January transfer window will allow us to get in some decent players (if they want to come of course).
I think the players need to look at themselves and take most of the blame, at the end of the day they are on the pitch. We do rely on loanees but we have to as we do not have bundles of cash to spend on players. I don't think the loaness care, they will just go back to their clubs at the end of the day. I don't think a new manager is needed at the moment but I cannot see the fans putting up with it for long.
I may be a devoted Albion fan but at the moment I am not enjoying it, what is there to enjoy? So I have decided to not go to Shrewsbury on Tuesday.
I have a ticket but just feel after Friday getting home freezing, do I want to sit on a coach for hours, watch us lose, sit on the freezing coach for another few hours, get home ridiculously late, sleep for a bit and then go to work?
No, I would rather go to the pub and watch it which is what I intend to do. My girlfriend didn't believe me and bet me a Chinese I would change my mind, well sorry darling you owe me a Chinese.
I do hope we win just for confidence if nothing else but the league is more important than this competition and the state the team is in at the moment I feel the transfer window will be make or break for us.
