It’s a sight Albion supporters have waited more than a decade to see.
Diggers were yesterday churning up the earth at Village Way North, Falmer, as contractors got to work on the club’s £65 million stadium.
The Buckingham Group took over the site earlier this month, and an official handover ceremony will take place tomorrow.
Fans who won a lottery draw will be taken to the site by bus from Withdean to witness the historic moment.
Paul Samrah, the chairman of the Falmer For All campaign, said: “To see work already started is truly momentous.
“It really is the beginning of the end of our fight.
“We have had so many setbacks but now we can actually see it with our own eyes.
“It’s fantastic and a testament to all the hard work thousands of people have put in over the years.”
