Refuse collection in Portslade ran like clockwork until a few weeks ago – the best it has been since Portslade was captured by Brighton council some years ago.
So why all of a sudden have things changed for the worse?
Simply because whoever is in control of refuse collection is naive and doesn’t know that if something ain’t broken you don’t fix it.
I would suggest to the leader of Brighton and Hove City Council that if the council is looking to make cost cutting savings then they begin nearer to home and cut frills like their huge PR bills and generous councillors’ allowances, not services that are already filleted to the bone.
The problem is that the council wastes too much, not that taxpayers don’t contribute enough to warrant decent services.
