A public meeting tonight (Monday October 20 2008) at 7.30 at Westdene Primary School has been arranged by the council to discuss proposed changes to the catchment area of Patcham High School. Alterations to the current arrangements would also affect Hove Park and Blatchington Mill.
The council are considering bringing Patcham's catchment west into the Westdene and Withdean areas. These parts of the city are currently served by the Hove schools.
The drawing up of catchment areas for the city’s secondary schools was part of the recent much fought over changes to how places at the schools should be distributed.
The proposed changes to the catchment areas would not alter the current ‘lottery’ system used to assign school places.
